The Ultimate Fishing Town in the United States and Canada Will Receive a $25,000 Community Donation; Eight $3,500 Regional Prizes Also to be Awarded

DENVER, Colo. – May 3, 2013 – WFN: World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, has announced the group of finalists, two of which are eligible to become the 2013 WFN Ultimate Fishing Town . One town in the U.S. and one town in Canada will be crowned the 2013 WFN Ultimate Fishing Town and win a $25,000 community donation to be used towards fishing-related causes.

700 towns in the U.S. and Canada received nominations and were eligible to advance in the quest to become the next Ultimate Fishing Town. That number is now down to the final 19 towns – 11 in the U.S. and 8 in Canada.

U.S. Ultimate Fishing Town Finalists, by region:

Northeast: Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, N.Y.; Walton, N.Y. and Waddington, N.Y.
Southeast: Cape Hatteras, N.C. and Cocodrie, La.
Central: Baudette, Minn. and Grand Rapids, Minn.
Southwest: Grand Lake, Colo. and Ferron, Utah
West: Bridgeport, Calif. and Bishop, Calif.

Canadian Ultimate Fishing Town Finalists, by region:

Eastern: Hampstead, New Brunswick and Woodstock, New Brunswick
Western: Flin Flon, Manitoba and The Pas, Manitoba
Ontario: Port Colborne, Campbellford, Ganaoque and Deseronto

“WFN asked anglers across North America to nominate and vote for their favorite places to fish across eight regions in two countries,” said Senior Director of Marketing for WFN, Pam Stinson. “The people have spoken and now the race is on. We’ve seen amazing passion and excitement from anglers and these communities, and we’re looking forward to an exciting finish.”

The vote count resets to zero for the final round, which began at 12 p.m. MT today and continues through 11:59 a.m. MT on Friday, May 24. Anyone can vote for his or her town of choice at UltimateFishingTown.com up to four times in one 24-hour period. Earn up to eight extra bonus votes by referring a friend through email and sharing on Facebook and Twitter:

• Earn up to six bonus votes for referring your friends through email

Town walls are populated with videos, photos and written comments to promote the community’s candidacy and reinforce why the town is deserving of Ultimate Fishing Town honors. The town receiving the most votes in each country will garner the $25,000 grand prize to be invested in fishing-related causes in the community, with eight $3,500 prizes to be awarded to each leading regional vote getter for the same purpose.
